Trezor Bridge

Trezor Bridge is a lightweight background service that enables secure USB communication between your Trezor hardware wallet and Trezor Suite (or compatible apps). Install it once, keep it updated, and your device will be detected reliably across platforms.

⚙️ Auto-detect device 🔒 Secure USB transport 🪟 Windows / 🍎 macOS / 🐧 Linux 🧰 Works with Suite & WebUSB fallback

🧩What is Trezor Bridge?

A small companion service that runs in the background and brokers communication between your browser/desktop app and the hardware wallet. It replaces older browser plugins and provides a consistent, secure channel so Suite can discover and talk to your device.

  • Modern stack: Robust USB handling and permission flow.
  • Fewer prompts: Device detection “just works” after setup.
  • Safer defaults: Signed installers and verified binaries from trezor.io.

When do I need it?

Use Bridge if your OS or browser doesn’t support WebUSB reliably, or you prefer the desktop version of Trezor Suite. It’s recommended on Windows and many Linux environments, and optional on macOS depending on your setup.

  • Suite desktop: Recommended
  • Suite web in Chrome/Edge: Optional (WebUSB may work)
  • Firefox/Safari: Bridge recommended

⬇️Install in 5 Steps

  1. Go to trezor.io/bridge and download the installer for your OS.
  2. Close Trezor Suite and browsers that are using your device (if open).
  3. Run the installer and follow the prompts (admin permission may be required).
  4. Reconnect your Trezor via USB and open Trezor Suite.
  5. Grant access when prompted. Your device should appear automatically.

Tip: After installation, Bridge runs in the background and starts with your system.

🔄Update or Reinstall

  • Download the latest version from trezor.io/bridge.
  • Run the installer over your existing version (no manual removal needed).
  • If issues persist, uninstall Bridge, reboot, then install fresh.

Keeping Bridge updated improves device detection and compatibility.

🧪Troubleshooting

  • Device not detected? Try a different USB cable/port. Avoid USB hubs.
  • Suite can’t connect? Fully close Suite, ensure Bridge is running, then reopen.
  • Browser conflict? Close other tabs/apps using the device; try desktop Suite.
  • Linux udev rules: Install Trezor udev rules, then unplug/plug your device.
  • Firewall/AV: Allow Bridge; temporarily disable security software to test.

🛡️Security Notes

  • Download only from the official domain: trezor.io.
  • Verify prompts on your device screen before approving any action.
  • Your recovery seed is never needed by Bridge. Never type it on a computer.
  • Keep firmware, Suite, and Bridge updated for the latest protections.

FAQ

  • Is Bridge required? Not always. WebUSB may work in some browsers, but Bridge provides the most reliable connection.
  • Does Bridge see my keys? No. Private keys never leave your Trezor device.
  • Can I use Bridge with multiple apps? Yes, but only one app can hold the device connection at a time.
  • Does Bridge auto-update? You’ll be prompted to install new versions from the official site.

🚀Next Steps
